How to avoid Failures in MRCP Part 1 exam (the first hurdle to this esoteric exam)

MRCP EXAM PREP

Many can tell you how to get it right, but I can tell you how to avoid to get it wrong, following are the pitfalls of poor prep for exam:

1. POOR TECHNIQUE by not doing enough mcqs & not knowing examiners favourite topics in basic general medicine

2. INADEQUATE CLINICAL KNOWLEDGE Not knowing the basics of clinical management which could be obtained ideally by clinical experience but also possible with reading and really understanding what u r reading

3. LOSING HOPE as once u lose hope your brain and body will fail to give you your best possible performance

4. Try to go for exam once you start getting marks in practice q banks more than 70% as a whole or most imp subject at least more than 75 %
5.Most important of all
, try to revise as many mcqs as you can, try to get following qbanks and get them revised more than twice at least:
  1. Pastest (Most imp and almost same exam standard and it is a MUST for the exam)
  2. Passmedicine (you will find simple questions there, but some questions are answered incorrectly as well, but some used to say it is BIBLE of MRCP, due to very useful notes that it provides and NICE guidelines, SIGN guidelines link (The Only MRCP Book You Will Ever Need is actually a copy paste from passmedicine)
  3. Onexamination (some find it useful for the exam and for some its very hard than usual, either u can try this or pastest, but pastest is more appreciated and answers are quite athentic in both)
6. Passing marks vary to great extent and passing score in part 1 usually more than 130 to 140 questions truely correct not what u think u made this much correct. Key of Royal College Of Physicians vary from our answers keys.

7. Never loose hope if u want to avoid failure.
